Trestleboard for June 2010
From the East:
Brethren,
We have had a fantastic year at Christiana Lodge No. 35. Ten new members and thirty one degrees conferred thus far with a few to go! We’ve accomplished many new things this year such as the implementation of the Steward’s Committee; now World Famous for their continuous culinary offerings. Thanks to Brother Corey Link for leading them throughout the year. We’ve also established a connection to the wives and families with our frequent “Family Dinners” and guest speakers for everyone. I was reviewing the Lodge Register recently and noticed that we now frequently have an average of twenty masons at a meeting. While that constitutes a small percentage of our members; it’s an improvement over years past. If you haven’t been to a meeting for a while, please come out to our June Stated Communication, we would love to have you back. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my wife Sandi for always providing decorations and a theme for each of our Family Nights. And last, but certainly not least to all of our members both officers and regulars who attended all the meetings and events and worked on the instruction with our candidates. On May 11th we had one of those special family nights with a dinner at 6:30p and a special presentation by the Past Master’s of Christiana Lodge #35 with “A Tribute to Old Glory”. This flag ceremony celebrates the history of the stars and stripes with a riveting soundtrack and moving dialogue as well as a physical “building” of the flag. The presenters were MW Glenn F. Davis, Sr, PGM, W Carl H. Cox, PGMar, RW Edwin M. Newth, PSGW, W Kennard E. Brown, PGT. We had over forty attendees both masons and non-masons. A great turnout once again and a fabulous presentation. Thank you Past Masters!! On May 18th we crafted two more brothers as they are on their way to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason; hopefully in the month of June. Congratulations Brothers Wessells and Nardo our newest Fellow Craft members.
On May 25th, Brother Andrew B. Gregg received his Master Mason Degree. We had a good turnout including our guest Senior Deacon, Eric Thompson from Ionic Lodge #31. Congratulations Bro Gregg. Our Senior Deacon, Frederick J. Lynch, II was on his honeymoon. Congratulations Brother Fred and his new wife Christina who were married May 22nd.
Our June communication is right around the corner and an end to another successful year at Christiana Lodge #35. Thank you to all of the officers and committee chairmen who have given their time and energy to make our lodge something special. I look forward to even greater success in the future and to meeting some of the members who haven’t been to lodge for a while. Please join us on June 8th for a Casual Lodge Meeting (Business Casual – No Tie, Jacket or Jeans) for our election of officers for 2010 followed by our traditional Strawberries and Ice Cream. Thank you for allowing me to be your Worshipful Master this past year, it is truly an honor and a privilege. Today, know that whatever you think you are is only a fraction of what you can be. In Harmony,
William J. Sahm, Jr.
Worshipful Master
